Shaun in the City Auction Raises Over £1 Million!

Shaun in the City came to an exciting end on the 8th October with a grand auction that raised £1,087,900 for two very worthy causes, Wallace & Gromit Children's Charity and The Grand Appeal. The event took place at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol, and was presided over by expert auctioneer and TV celebrity Tim Wonnacott.

Bidders from both the UK and further afield battled it out to get their hands on their favourite sculptures, with Globetrotter - designed by Aardman's very own Sarah Matthews - scopping the biggest bid of the evening at £28,000! Other popular Shauns included Sparkles the Unicorn, by Emily Golden, which was sold for £25,000, and Baaack to the Drawing Board, by none other than Nick Park, which went to a new home for £21,000. Richard Williams' Starstruck was also a big star on the night, raising a fantastic £24,000.

Other popular Shauns included Shaun on the Cob by Katie Wallis (£20,000), Flock N' Roll by Carys Ink (£17,000) and a classic Shaun which made its first appearance at the auction, created by Aardman Animations (£20,000). Five lovely mini sculptures were also auctioned, helping to boost the auction's coffers!

The funds raised by the Shauns featured on the London trail will go to Wallace & Gromit's Children Charity, which operates across the UK, while the Bristol Shauns have raised money for The Bristol Children's Hospital charity, The Grand Appeal. Both charities help provide life-saving medical equipment, free family accommodation, arts, music and play therapy programmes and sensory equipment and facilities for poorly children and babies.

As well as the money raised by the auction, funds raised by the Shaun in the City shop and app also go towards these fantastic charities. As the charity explains:

"Whether you purchased a sculpture at auction or a figurine in our shop, downloaded our app or sponsored a fundraiser, thank you for your support. Every single penny raised is going to make a truly life-changing difference to sick children and their families across the UK."
